“Intersection” Opening Night!

Adam Caldwell and Jonathan Darby‘s dual exhibit Intersection brought out a wonderful and diverse group! Caldwell’s complex paintings consistently drew in crowds. Small 11×14″ oil portraits let the audience come eye to eye with Caldwell’s subjects on a personal level while the large layered compositions created new worlds to enter into. Darby also created a new world for us to explore with his mock favela, hung with paintings of Brazilian street children, and made complete with finishing details such as children’s clothing hung out on a laundry line and a pair of worn shoes dangling from above.

Can’t wait to see more of these awesome paintings filling the gallery – stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to her solo show!

Jonathan Darby Print, benefits CARF! (FAD)

“Roney”
Giclee reproduction on archival paper with deckled edges, additional UV glaze & spot screen varnishing
100cm x 100cm
Edition of 35

Artist Jonathan Darby has a print for sale, with all proceeds being donated to CARF, the Children at Risk Foundation, which offers children living in the slums of Brazil education of all variety.

“I felt completely that ‘I have to do something about it,’ these children in Brazil were in some cases being rounded up and executed, because they are a menace to the city – running around stealing, begging, sniffing glue, causing lots of trouble. And here is this great organization offering up programs in capoiera, DJ-ing, art making, music, dance, lots of things that prevent them from ending up out on the streets.”- Jonathan Darby

Join us for the opening of Intersection tonight and pick yours up!

“Down and Dirty” at Parlor Gallery

If you happen to find yourself in New Jersey, hopefully you were able to catch the opening of the group exhibition “Down and Dirty” at Parlor Gallery this past weekend, including work by some of our favorite artists: Morgan Slade, Casey Gray and Chris Blackstock! The group of artists worked in a wide variety of mediums but all the works were drawn together with subject matter that pushed the erotic edge. Peruse through the refreshingly risque images here and if you’re in the area before the show’s end (July 5th), stop by!

Chris Blackstock, “Selective Shearing”, graphite on paper, 12×16″

New Work by EINE in SouthPort!

Just when we thought we couldn’t love EINE any more than we already do, he gives us yet another reason: this time with his newest work up in Southport, where he’s been painting for the “Southport Arts Festival”! The large mural “CHASE ESCAPE” is brightly colored, with his trademark mix of blues, oranges and (my favorite) sea foam green, that no passerby could possibly miss. He also painted some shutters in Southport, featured on Street Art News, that were looking killer as per usual. It’s great to see EINE’s colorful work continue to spread throughout the world!
